One more week...

In case anyone isnt sure what this whole Aarika going to Australia thing is about, I am studying abroad my last semester of college with U of I and will be in Adelaide, Australia from February 11th- July 6th. So if anyone wants my address while I'm in Australia it is..

The University of Adelaide Village
210 Grote Street
Adelaide, South Australia 5000

I will be living in a townhouse with 4 other roommates, none of whom I know their names or even where they are from yet. I am excited to just arrive and have an adventure right from the get go. I have met two other girls from U of I that are also going to the University of Adelaide with me and I am so thankful that we all get along really well. We have started talking about exploring and taking trips together while we are there and it gets me excited to think about how awesome of an experience this will be! :D I have yet to sign up for classes since they don't start until March 2nd but I am planning on taking the minimum amount of credits needed to study abroad since I have everything I need already to graduate. :) Since I'm not starting my classes for 2 weeks after I get there, I am planning on doing a lot of exploring and getting comfortable which will hopefully help me adjust to life down under. :P

I am REALLY excited to go although more recently I have been getting a little sad about leaving. For the next week I will just be packing and hanging out around home but I am feeling the effects of knowing that I will be gone for 5 months a lot. For now, if you could pray that I get everything done I need to while I'm still at home and I that I can spend some quality time with friends and family that would be much appreciated. :)

  1. Hello Aarika, I just signed up so I will be following your journey. So exciting! Australia has been a dream of mine since I was in 2nd grade. My teacher/ sorry mind block can't remember her name moved to Australia with her husband who was a Anthropologist.. We studied Australia for a couple months before she left. Still in my memories.. Pretty good, huh? Make sure you tell Mom, she and Kim are always amazed at what I can remember. LOL! I will keep you in my prayers. It will be a truly amazing experience for you. Be well and good luck! Gina

  2. Hey Aarika!
First, I have to say that I can't believe how much you look like your mom! I'm sure you get that a lot lol
Second, I am so excited that you are going overseas....and jealous! ; p You are going to have so much fun. I studied overseas my junior year in France and it is one of the best times of my life! Explore and travel as much as you can, immerse yourself in the culture as much as possible. Those memories and experiences will stay with you for the rest of your life.
I have a friend who studied in Australia for a semester - I don't remember exactly where though. I will ask her if she has any tips for you. Take care and have a fantastic time!
